divorce costs
The cost of divorce varies considerably depending on the case. It depends on the length of the procedure, the number of lawyers involved, whether or not to prepare a deed. It is therefore impossible to give figures for the fixed cost of a divorce, but we can establish ranges.
The cost of a divorce by mutual consent can range from 2000 to 4000 euros. The lowest price is a divorce without complication, with only one lawyer for the couple, who have no property, and do not need to write a liquid state by a notary.
The cost of a divorce by acceptance of the principle of marriage breakdown or permanent alteration of the marital bond is between 3500 and 6000 euros. In both cases, the husband failed to find agreement on the physical consequences of divorce, and judges and lawyers are more in demand. Finally, the cost of divorce for misconduct can range from 5000 to 15 000 euros: research evidence and testimony to prove the guilt of the wrongdoer spouse lengthen the procedure considerably.
The cost of a divorce can be lessened by using legal aid. To be eligible, you must file the application to the Tribunal de Grande Instance, and to justify incomes between 874 and 1311 euros a month. For lower income, less than or equal to 874 euros per month, legal aid will to care for 100% of the cost of divorce, whereas with a monthly income between 1213 and 1311 euros, it does more than 15%.
For a calculation of the cost of a divorce, it must also charge a registration fee of 1% (the soulte) for couples who jointly owned property or undivided, and the notary’s fees if necessary.
